    MVC All-Conference Release  |  MVC Scholar-Athlete Release

ST. LOUIS -- The Southern Illinois women's tennis team collected seven awards at the pre-championship banquet Thursday night in Normal, Ill. Four players were named All-Conference, while four Saluki women were named to Scholar-Athlete teams.

Anita Lee and Natasha Tomishima were named to the All-Select Team and Korey Love and Lee garnered All-Conference honors at No. 2 doubles. Lee has a current singles record of 20-12 at the No. 2 slot with a 4-2 mark in the MVC. Tomishima lead the team with 14 wins this spring and is returning to the All-Select team after a 2013 selection.

Love and Lee teamed up for a 12-4 doubles record at the No. 2 position and went 5-1 in conference play. The duo has won eight of their last 10 matches headed into the MVC Championship. Love was also named All-Conference in 2012 with her partner Melanie Delsart at the No. 1 position.

Seniors Anita Lee and Korey Love were named First Team Scholar-Athletes, while Natasha Tomishima and Gisela Cairo Baza were named honorable mention. Love, Lee, and Tomishima each were named Scholar-Athletes during the 2013 season.

Scholar-Athlete honors require athletes to meet performance standards to be eligible for selection. A student-athlete must hold a cumulative 3.2 GPA, be at least a sophomore in athletic and academic standing, and have participated in 75% of the regular season or projected participation in the MVC Championship to earn a spot on the MVC Scholar-Athlete team.

The Salukis will be in action tomorrow in Normal, when they face Bradley in the quarterfinals of the MVC Championship. First serve between the Salukis and Braves is set for 2 p.m.
