CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois women's tennis coach Audra Nothwehr announces the signing of Melanie Delsart for the 2009-10 season.

Delsart, an incoming freshman from Buenos Aires, Argentina, has had extensive ITF experience as a junior. She has been ranked as high as 870th in ITF juniors (Jan. 29, 2007) and 933rd in ITF Women's Doubles (Nov. 26, 2007).

Her career highlights a doubles title at a grade five ITF junior tournament in Argentina (Copa Vendimia) in April 2006. She also made it to the round of 16 in thirteen ITF Women's qualifying singles tournaments.

"With these stats and wins in her career, we are confident that Melanie has the ability to come in and make an immediate impact on our program," Nothwehr said. "We are thrilled to get someone with, not only such extensive experience, but such vision and drive."

Most impressively, Delsart has posted wins over the number 205th and 206th ranked ITF juniors in the world as well as the number 487th, 754th, 919th, & 937th ranked ITF women in the world.
