CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois women's tennis coach Audra Nothwehr announced today the signing of Abigail Plecki for the 2012-13 season.

Plecki, an incoming freshman from Homer Glen, Illinois, finished her senior year at Lockport Township High School with 67 career doubles wins primarily at the No. 1 slot, before switching to singles her senior year where she finished with 20 wins at the No. 1 spot.

Plecki has competed in USTA Tournaments since the age of 12 and steadily improving her rankings. In 2008, Plecki had a recruiting rank of 1120, improving to 1075 in 2009. After her sophomore campaign she shot up to 730, and by the end of her senior year she was ranked 389th in the country. Plecki is also ranked No. 17 in Illinois and No. 51 in the Great Lakes region.

"She is coming into a full team, and she has the tools to contribute in doubles right away, she just needs time on the court to adjust," said Nothwehr. "Abigail has a great attitude and tools, and will only get better with experience."
