    MURRAY, Ky. - The Saluki volleyball team defeated Murray State, 3-1 (25-20, 20-25, 25-16, 25-6) improving to 10-3 on the season.

    The Salukis (10-3, 1-2 MVC) started out on top as they took a 25-20 victory in the first set, but dropped their second set to the Racers (5-9, 2-2 OVC) , 25-20. SIU came back and grabbed a win in the third set, 25-16. With a 2-1 lead over the Racers, the Salukis came out of the third set hitting .263, posting 10 blocks and 43 kills. SIU went a 12-0 run in the fourth set, defeating the Racers 25-6 for the match win.

    "I thought the fourth set was the best volleyball we've played this season," said head coach Brenda Winkeler. "We played errorless and had a lot of people contribute offensively."

    SIU hit .310, posting 58 kills and 14 blocks. Brooklyn Robbins recorded her 19th career double-double with 52 assists and 13 digs. Jennifer Berwanger grabbed her 14th double-double contributing 20 kills and 12 digs. The Salukis recorded 75 digs against Murray State, and are currently ranked No. 12 in the country with an average of 16.93 digs per set.

    "We made 14 errors in the second set," Winkeler said. "But we were able to come back and minimize our errors and win win the match."

    The Salukis will continue conference play on the road this weekend as they travel to Bradley and Northern Iowa.

    "We're ready to compete against Bradley on Friday," said Winkeler "Tonight gave us some confidence we need to get back into conference play."
