    This week in Saluki Volleyball:

    Southern Illinois --7-6 overall, 0-3 in MVC:
    Tuesday, Sept. 26 @ SE Missouri St. - 7 p.m.
    Friday, Sept. 29 vs. SW Missouri St. - 7 p.m.
    Saturday, Sept. 30 vs. Wichita St. - 7 p.m.

    Kristie Kemner had double-doubles against Illinois St. (14 kills, 11 digs) and Indiana St. (10 kills, 11 digs) over the weekend. Kemner leads the Salukis with 160 kills, averaging 3.64 kills per game overall and 3.67 kills per MVC game (7th in the MVC). Kemner is averaging 3.1 digs per MVC contest (9th in the MVC). She is second in aces (.636 per game) in all matches.

    The Salukis are 13-6 all-time against SE Missouri State including an 0-3 loss in 1999. SIU is 11-24 all-time against SW Missouri State and 15-11 against Wichita State including two losses to each school in 1999.

    SIU is second in hitting percentage among MVC teams in all games, with a .219 hitting percentage.

    Jenny Noel, Tara Cains and Megan Baumstark each continued their strong play for the Salukis. Noel leads SIU in overall block average at 1.043 per game (10th in MVC) and is second in overall hitting percentage at .286 (10th in MVC). Tara Cains leads the Salukis with a .311 overall hitting percentage (3rd in MVC). Megan Baumstark ranks sixth in MVC assists (9.667 per game) and sixth in overall assists (9.318).

    SIU is 0-3 in Missouri Valley Conference play, after losing matches to Illinois State 9-15, 12-15, 5-15 on Sept. 22, and Indiana State 9-15, 9-15, 9-15 on Sept. 23.

    Following the Salukis1 first MVC games of the season at home, SIU will travel to Drake on Oct. 6 and Creighton on Oct. 7.

    Southern Illinois will be home again on Oct. 13 vs. Northern Iowa and Oct. 14 vs. Bradley. Both matches will be at 7 p.m. in Davies Gym.
