For the second consecutive week, Southern Illinois University Carbondale's Kristie Kemner received a post season volleyball honor from the Missouri Valley Conference, when she was named to the 2000 Missouri Valley Conference All-Conference Volleyball Second Team. She was also named to the All-Newcomer Team after the 1999 season.

"I think it's a great honor to cap off her season. Her stats were steady throughout the season," said Jill Misner, Saluki assistant coach. "She's been a consistent go to player since she entered the program. She's filled her role as a leader very well."

Kristie Kemner, a sophomore outside hitter from Quincy, Illinois, finished eighth in Missouri Valley Conference matches in kill average at 3.404 per game. In overall matches, Kemner ranked third in ace average (.423 per game), and sixth in kill average (3.505 per game). She led the 2000 Salukis in kills (340), kills per game (3.5), digs (280), digs per game (2.89), total attacks (924), service aces (41), and aces per game (.42).

Kemner currently has a 3.8 grade point average in Speech Pathology. She was named to the First-Team Scholar-Athlete Team for the Missouri Valley Conference last week in her first year of eligibility. Jenny Noel was also named to the Honorable Mention Scholar-Athlete Team last week, marking her second consecutive year on the team.

Southern Illinois University has been represented by at least one athlete on the Missouri Valley Conference All-Conference First, Second or Honorable Mention Teams team since 1984, which includes the Gateway Conference.
