This is the fifth weekly installment of diaries from the 2012 Saluki volleyball team.

    By Taylor Pippen

Hey everyone! This past week was the Saluki Invitational. We were all really excited because it was our first home game. The team has been doing a great job with keeping up the hard work at practices; every practice we continue to get better.

On Thursday, the team got together at Jessica Whitehead's house for a team dinner. Her mom made us tacos and brownies that were divine! The brownies were gone so fast I barely got one. We had a great time doing our two favorite things: eating and hanging out! After we ate, we turned on the VMA's and watched it for a little bit.

We usually play at Davies Gym, but this weekend we got to play at the arena. It was so much fun! Friday night the cheerleaders came and so did the band. Needless to say, the gym was super loud! The women's basketball team painted themselves and there were tons of people there. All the fans and the cheering was definitely a confidence boost while playing. We played great competition.

On Friday, we won against Nicholls State. On Saturday, we had victories over the University of Arkansas Little Rock and University of Tennessee Martin. Alysia Mayes was named MVP and Jessica Whitehead and Laura Tholewere named all tournament players. We had a great weekend of volleyball and earned the tournament title!

    GO DAWGS!!
