CARBONDALE, Ill. - Saluki Athletics will be hosting a weekend of festivities to open the Southern Illinois volleyball team's Missouri Valley Conference season at Davies Gym this weekend.

Friday night tickets will be $1 to "Pack Davies Gym" against Illinois State. The Salukis look to set a new single-match attendance record, now 668, and end a 31-match regular-season drought against the Redbirds dating back to 1991. The match will start at 7 p.m.

Saturday, Saluki Athletics will host a tailgate before the Indiana State match. Hot dogs and drinks will be available at 5 p.m. until the match's 7 p.m. start while supplies last.

SIU has started the season with an 8-2 non-conference record, the best start since 1985, winning two of three tournaments.
