Latrice Gray, Mariann Ahuna, Kelsey Toussaint and Korto Dunbar all had first-place finishes for the women's team, and Doron Giat had a top finish for the men's team as the Southern Illinois University men's and women's track and field teams combined to place fifth Saturday at the Southeast Missouri State All-Sport Relays.
The Saluki women placed fourth with 130 points, while a partial SIU men's squad scored 50 points to place fifth.
Gray won the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 7 inches, Dunbar got first in the 110-meter hurdles clocking in at 14.49 seconds, and Toussaint took the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.07 seconds. Coming off an SIU record-setting performance two weeks ago at the SIU Spring Classic, Ahuna continued to shine in the triple jump with a first-place jump of 39 feet, 10 1/2 inches.
Giat placed first in the 1,500-meter run with a season-best time of 3 minutes, 56.46 seconds. Other highlights for SIU included Inna Turevsky's second-place showing in the triple jump (38-10) and a No. 2 placement by Shaneka Williams in the 100-meter dash (12.31). Third place finishes were turned in by Julia Roundtree (4:54.16, 1,500m) and Katie Meehan (17:59.5, 5,000m). Orane Morgan added a second-place time in the 800-meter run for the men (1:54.97).
Both teams will return to action next weekend, as the men will compete at the Arkansas Relays and the Saluki women will travel to the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, Tennessee.
