McCall, Lambert earn All-American honors day three of NCAA Championships

EUGENE, Ore. - Southern Illinois thrower Jeneva McCall earned her third All-American honor Friday in as many days Friday night at the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Oregon.
The sophomore thrower finished fifth in the women's shot put with a career-best toss of 54-03.25 (16.54m), second all-time at SIU. McCall earned her third All-American honor in as many days, bringing her indoor and outdoor season total to five after winning the discus and taking fifth in the hammer.
McCalls four points brings the Salukis total to 26 rank third in the country after three days of competition. The team is tied with Texas A&M.
On the men's side, J.C. Lambert earned All-American honors after finishing 11th in the hammer throw with a toss of 207-07 (63.29m).
Thursday, all four Saluki women's hammer throwers earned All-America team honors and scored 12 points for the Salukis. Gwen Berry brought home her first All-American honor, throwing 201-02 (61.31m) for fourth place, and McCall threw 199-06 (60.80m) for fifth place.
Olga Ciura finished seventh earning her first All-American honor with a toss of 196-05 (59.88m), and Sasha Leeth earned her second All-American honor with a best throw of 194-00 (59.14m) for eighth in her final trip to the National Championships.
For the men, sophomore Cody Doerflein cleared 17-04.50 (5.30m) in the pole vault, going out at 17-08.50 (5.40m) finishing 10th, just missing scoring and earning All-American honors by two spots in his first trip to the national meet.
McCall threw 180-04 (54.98m) for the national title in the discus Wednesday, earning her third All-American honor this season. The sophomore won the Salukis' first outdoor title in school history and the first title since Brittany Riley's second indoor weight throw title in 2008.
On the men's side, Jake Deiters earned his first All-American honor Wednesday, finishing eighth in the discus. He threw 181-02 (55.23m).
