Men Get 15th, Women Place 19th at Midwest Regional

CARBONDALE --? - The Southern Illinois University men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up their respective seasons at home on Saturday at the NCAA Midwest Regional.
The men's team, paced by sophomore Doron Giat's 40th-place finish, finished 15th in a field of 27 men's teams. The women's team, led by sophomore Noa Beitler's 40th-place time, placed 19th out of 30 competing schools.
Minnesota took the men's team title, led by Terrance McComb's second-place time, and Oklahoma State took the women's team title on the strength of Siri Alfheim's first-place time (20:31). Shadrack Kimeli of Kansas State University won the men's individual title (30:37).
Giat clocked in at 31 minutes, 51 seconds in the men's 10K race, while Beitler had a time of 22 minutes, 19 seconds in the women's 6K race.
Other SIU men's times included: Travis Pressler (78th, 32:43), Eli Baker (87th, 32:52), Joe Zeibert (102nd, 33:15), Steve Murray (109th, 33:31), Ryan Hauser (129th, 34:13) and Tony LaChiana (146th, 34:48).
Other SIU women's times included: Katie Meehan (80th, 23:08), Kristen Carducci (24:55), Julia Roundtree (153rd, 25:22) and Erica Hall (161st, 29:18).
