Communications, Social Media & Graphic Design
The Southern Illinois Athletics Communications Department is responsible for disseminating information and promoting all of SIU’s 16 sports. Duties include: direct liaison with the local and national media to promote student-athletes, coaches and administrators, compiling statistics for all sports, crafting promotional materials (game notes, game programs, record books), produce content for SIUSalukis.com (press releases, game stories, game previews, feature stories), implement social media strategies for all sports, labeling and organizing photos from events, and working to gather statistics for all home sporting events.
Student Photographers
This opportunity is for college level students looking to gain real world photography experience and build their portfolio. In addition, students should have an interest in sports and Saluki Athletics. Candidates may use their own equipment but are also able to use department equipment. Candidates should be comfortable using photo editing software such as Adobe Lightroom to promptly edit their images for publishing on Southern Illinois social media platforms.Â

Live Production Crew
We are always looking to hire undergraduate students to be a part of the in-house video board live production team for games at Salukis Stadium (Football) and Banterra Center (men's and Women's Basketball). We are also looking for students to assist ESPN with their broadcasts. ESPN broadcasts Football, men's and Women's Basketball, Volleyball, Softball and Baseball. Positions are open to all majors.
Positions include camera operator (fixed and handheld), Replay operator, producer and technical director.Â

Marketing
Our mission in Athletics Marketing is to generate revenue for the athletic department, increase attendance at Southern Illinois sporting events and provide an exciting atmosphere for those who attend. We are responsible for marketing plans, writing game/meet scripts, executing in-game promotions, creating advertisements, managing budgets and various other marketing activities.
Marketing interns are paid positions working 10-20 hours each week. Students work both in the marketing office and at various athletic department events during the fall and spring terms. Office interns will be assigned duties based on their desire to take initiative, attitude, ability to be a leader, their skill level & experience. In general, office interns have an interest in pursuing a career in sports and college athletics while gaining hands-on experience.
We expect that each member of our team will work cooperatively and collaboratively towards the goals established both personally and by the full-time staff. We also expect you to have fun. It is a privilege to work in college athletics; it is important that you enjoy it.
Working in the SIU Athletics Marketing Office is a great first step for students interested in working in collegiate or professional athletics.

Join the team behind the scenes of Saluki Athletics! As a member of the Game Staff, you'll play a vital role in creating an exciting and smooth game-day experience for fans, athletes, and coaches. We're looking for dependable, energetic individuals who are passionate about sports and committed to representing Saluki pride.
Game Staff responsibilities may include assisting with event setup and breakdown, managing fan engagement activities, providing customer service, supporting promotional efforts, and working closely with athletic department staff to ensure each event runs efficiently. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain valuable experience in sports management, event operations, and customer service, all while being part of the action at Southern Illinois University’s NCAA Division I athletic events.
