Diver Kegan Skelton may have had the best individual performance on the day when he re-set the facility record in the one-meter dive. Skelton finished the event with a score of 374.35, which broke his own record that he set against Missouri State earlier this season.
The men's team started the day with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Joao Facciotti, Calvin Kolar, Lucas Aquino, and Till Pallmann finished first in the race with a time of 1:33.24. All four members of the relay team also added individual wins on the day.
Andre Brilhante (200-yard freestyle, 400-yard IM) and Michael Wolfe (500-yard freestyle, 1000-yard freestyle) each won two events, while Alex Crawford picked up a win in the 200-yard backstroke.
The men's team also took first in the 200-yard freestyle relay (Andres Saavedra, Shaun Wolfe, Aquino, and Pallmann) with a time of 1:23.65.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Sarah James, Holly Johnson, Chandler Ott, and Riley Schroedter gave the Salukis the first win of the day, after they finished with a time of 1:50.14. James (100-yard backstroke, 200-yard backstroke) and Johnson (100-yard freestyle) would add individual wins for SIU later in the day.
The freshmen trio of Bryn Handley (1000-yard freestyle, 200-yard butterfly), Liane Tatigian (100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke), and Kelsie Walker (200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle) combined for six wins, as each swimmer won two events each.
McKenna Avery (50-yard freestyle) and Lauren Stockton (100-yard butterfly) added one win each for the Salukis.
Johnson, Ott, Stockton, and Walker teamed up in the 200-yard freestyle relay and ended the day with a win in the event. They finished the race in a time of 1:38.92.
Kaixuan 'Sherry' Zhang continued her winning ways, sweeping the one and three-meter dive once again. Zhang remains unbeaten this season in both events.
SIU will have about a week off before they head to Fishers, Ind., for the Butler Invite on Jan. 25. The Salukis return to home action on Feb. 7 against Evansville.

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Saluki swimming and diving teams opened 2015 with a sweep of the University of Arkansas Little Rock and Washington University in St. Louis on Saturday. The men's team defeated WUSTL, 205.00-93.00, while the women's team defeated WUSTL 222.00-76.00 and UALR 222.00-70.00.
