Abby Brockmeyer named MVC Newcomer of the Week

Southern Illinois freshman forward Abby Brockmeyer was named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Brockmeyer averaged 15.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in a pair of games last week. The Raymond, Ill. native posted two double-doubles, as she poured in 17 points and added 10 rebounds at UAB on Monday and followed with 14 points and 10 rebounds in SIU's win at Memphis on Sunday. In doing so, she became the first freshman in program history to record two double-doubles in her first three games.Â
Brockmeyer and the Salukis next travel to Cape Girardeau, Mo. to take on Southeast Missouri on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 1 p.m.
