Kiersten Klekner-Alt joined Saluki Athletics compliance staff as a graduate assistant in August 2016. She previously served one season as the assistant coach for the Saluki women’s golf program.
Klekner-Alt came to Carbondale after a successful collegiate golf playing career. She played two years at the University of Ottawa and served as a team captain for both seasons. Following a 5th place individual finish at the 2014 Ontario University Athletics Championship, she received recognition as an OUA Women’s Golf All-Star – First Team.
Before heading to Ottawa, Klekner-Alt competed in the 2013 USGA Women’s Amateur Championship and played at Newman University and Gannon University. At Newman, she took medalist honors after winning the 2013 Arkansas-Fort Lions Classic and was named Heartland Conference Women’s Player of the Week. At Gannon, she was runner-up at the 2010 Gannon Invitational and subsequently named PSAC Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week. As a freshman, she was recognized as a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete and named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar Team.
Klekner-Alt earned a bachelor of social sciences with joint honors in philosophy and political science from the University of Ottawa, graduating with Cum Laude honors. She is currently working towards her Juris Doctor at the Southern Illinois University School of Law.
